Applying to US and Canada jobs from Korea
You can do the job. The hard part is knowing which North American roles are realistic from Seoul, and how you'd get there. Bridgefit benchmarks your resume against the people who already hold the role and adds the cross-border details that matter for Korean candidates.

What Bridgefit shows you
- A realistic match level (Strong, Possible, Stretch or Unlikely) for a specific North American posting.
- Where you sit compared with the typical background of people already in that role: prior employers, degrees and years of experience at hire. Aggregate only, never individual names.
- A prioritized gap plan and similar roles ranked by fit.
Work-authorization routes Korean citizens actually use
- Internal transfer (US L-1 or a Canadian intra-company permit): often the most realistic path if you already work at a global company with a Seoul office. It generally needs at least 1 year with the company abroad.
- US master's, then OPT: a common route for Korean candidates. STEM degrees give up to 3 years of work authorization, which covers several H-1B lottery attempts.
- H-1B: needs a sponsoring employer and a lottery selection. There is no Korea-specific US work visa like Australia's E-3 or Singapore's H-1B1.
- International Experience Canada: Korean citizens in the eligible age band can get an open work permit without a job offer, a common first step into Canada.
Time zones and remote roles
- Seoul is 13 to 14 hours ahead of New York and 16 to 17 hours ahead of San Francisco, depending on US daylight saving. A US workday falls overnight in Korea.
- "Remote-friendly" US postings often still mean US-based. Bridgefit flags remote, hybrid and relocation language so you know before you apply.
Reading a US salary from Korea
- Bridgefit converts the posted range to KRW using a dated exchange-rate snapshot. Remember that US pay is quoted before tax and usually excludes health insurance costs, and equity is often a large part of the package at AI and tech companies.
